OSHA Essentials for Federal Agency Managers and Supervisors


As required by CFR 1960, this one-day course provides "top level" safety training for managers and supervisors. The course includes a real world introduction to OSHA standards, a review of CFR 1960, and the requirements for federal agency managers and employees, a review of the most recent and frequently cited serious OSHA violations, and CFR 1910 standards by subpart. Specific agency safety programs are included as part of the course customization. Note: this is not an OSHA Training Institute Course.

Students completing this course should be able to:

  • Describe the OSH Act, and 29FR 1910 from a management perspective;
  • Identify and describe abatement methods for selected workplace hazards and OSHA standards;
  • Explain and apply workplace inspection procedures consistent with established OSHA policies, procedures, and directives.

Students take home:

  • Complete 898-page copy of 29 CFR 1910
  • A detailed work manual. A valuable reference that helps implement the skills learned
  • Field Inspection Reference Manual (FIRM). Used by OSHA compliance officers for inspections.
  • Copy of the OSH Act and Charts of the most frequently cited serious standards
  • A Certificate of Completion to serve as training documentation.
